Bellator 220 - news! MacDonald vs Fitch Live

Bellator 220: Rory MacDonald vs Jon Fitch fight MMA News & results how to watch live stream On Pick

The final bout of the first round of the welterweight grand prix takes place at Bellator 220, as Rory MacDonald puts the welterweight title on the line against Jon Fitch at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. on Saturday night, live and exclusively on DAZN. The winner is scheduled to face Neiman Gracie in the semifinals on June 14. The co-main event features Ilima-Lei Macfarlane defending her women's featherweight title against Veta Arteaga.

MacDonald (20-5) makes the first defense of the championship he won from Douglas Lima at Bellator 192 in January 2018. Between then and now, MacDonald ventured up to middleweight and challenged titleholder Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 206 in September, with Mousasi demonstrating why size matters in battering MacDonald to win by second-round TKO.

Since losing to Rousimar Palhares in December 2014, Fitch's (31-7-1, one no-contest) reeled off five consecutive wins to earn a crack at MacDonald. Fitch has fought for the 170-pound title on two occasions. Back at UFC 87 in August 2008, Fitch lost a decision to Georges St-Pierre. Then, the California native came up short to Palhares at World Series of Fighting 16 (now Professional Fight League).

Macfarlene (9-0) has taken Bellator by storm to become one of MMA's biggest stars. She won the inaugural featherweight belt by fifth-round submission at Bellator 186 in November 2017 against Emily Ducote. After submitting Alejandra Lara at Bellator in June, Macfarlane headlined in her native Hawaii at Bellator 213 in December and scored a third-round submission over Valerie Letourneau.

Arteaga (5-2) earned the shot at the belt by winning three of her last four opponents, including back-to-back wins, with a second-round submission of Denise Kielhlotz at Bellator 205 in September being the most recent. Can MacDonald bounce back from a devastating defeat or will Fitch be able to finally win the big one?
